Raw water storage tanks and distribution points

Attacking microorganisms at the point of entry into the plant, in raw water storage tanks and at distribution points with strong UV dose is often the first line of defense. After cartridge filters

RO feedwater to protect RO membranes from bacterial fouling

The primary purpose of membranes is to separate dissolved substances. Membranes are not designed for disinfection. However, membranes can trap bacteria and other microorganisms that are larger than the membrane pores. Such microorganisms feed on contaminants in RO feedwater and form bacterial colonies. As a result, it is common to see slimy biofilm on membrane surfaces. Sometimes the trapped microorganisms also attack the membrane and escape into RO permeate over time. Bacterial fouling is one factor that can reduce the life of membranes, requiring more frequent replacement of expensive membranes.
