Industrial Process Water

Overview of Industrial Process Water

Process industries use a lot of water for many applications. Some examples include water for washing, water to make a product, or water as a part of an industrial process, like making water based paints. Water is also commonly used for heating, cooling, to run a boiler and a long list of uses.

As water becomes more and more scarce, very often industrial process water has to come from sources other than municipal drinking water. It is common to see municipal treated water mixed with “make up water” water from open well, borewell, river, canal of dam. In some situations, they are forced to source water from tankers and store it on site in open dams or large storage tanks.

Water from different sources has different qualities. Worse, the quality of water from different sources changes with seasons. Therefore, process industries may be forced to install a water treatment plant to store water, mix water from multiple sources and try to get consistent quality of water for their processes.

Water from different sources has different qualities. Moreover, the quality of water from different sources changes with seasons and poses varying challenges in the form of bacteria, algae and other microorganisms that reduce the efficiency and reliability of the processes using water.

Considerations

Industrial process water has a wide range of qualities like UVT, TSS, TDS, trace elements and chemicals which can affect disinfection. Moreover, flow rate of water, flow patterns, water temperature and pressure and potential changes to such parameters need to be considered before sizing a UV system for industrial process water.
Sukrut CWS™ Series is ideal for small to large flowrates of industrial process water for manufacturing plants, chemical processes and process water used in numerous industries.
Sukrut WEL™ Series are popular for economical disinfection of process water water at large flowrates in numerous industries.
Sukrut MCS+™ are designed to deliver high UV dose levels at varying levels of UVT and/or very large flow rates for large scale industrial applications, targeted disinfection applications that require specific UV dose levels.

The water treatment plant may require basic equipment like water filters and softeners, or entire de-mineralisation plant (DM plant), or nanofiltration (NF) or reverse osmosis (RO) plant. If the water is not adequately disinfected, the bacteria and other microorganisms from incoming water can quickly spread throughout the plant. This often can be seen in the form of biofilm in the water treatment plant and equipment and pipelines in the plant.

Such bacterial infestation of process water has a variety of symptoms. In some processes bacteria interfere directly with the process, as an example fermentation is directly affected by bacteria and other microorganisms. In other cases, the effects are subtle e.g. lower shelf life of products, increase wastage of product, lower process yield, reduced heat transfer efficiency of boilers and chillers, etc.

UV System for the Application

Reliable disinfection

You are welcome to take samples of drinking water before our UV system and then immediately after our UV system to verify the microbial reduction. Our team will be happy to help with this, so you know for a fact that your drinking water is well protected from diseases.

Easy to install and use

Our UV systems are very easy to integrate with drinking water plants ranging from small RO/filtration skids to large industrial and municipal drinking water treatment plants treating lakhs of liter per hour to a high quality.

Internationally proven quality

Our UV systems are Certified to WaterMark Level1 which is equivalent to NSF61. You know that you are getting the same quality product that is exported to demanding customers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South East Asia and Oceania.

Economical

The cost of disinfecting a liter of drinking water with our UV systems, in terms of Rs/liter of drinking water is extremely low.

Application support

Our experienced team will help solve your specific challenge and inactivate any specific microorganisms from drinking water.

More Information

Attempts to use chlorine as a cheap solution often fail because chlorine often fails to properly disinfect water in such situations.  Also, chlorine quickly starts corroding various parts of the plant and equipment.

We offer reliable UV solutions to protect industrial process water from all types of microorganisms including bacteria, algae, moulds, cryptosporidium, giardia and other microorganisms.

Sukrut UV team has helped a large number of customers in diverse industries including chemical plants, sugar plants, distilleries, general industries, electroplating plants and more.
